The E-Line Array (Electronic Array) was conceived as an alternative approach to the line array principle, with practical advantages in mind.

The signal drive to each cabinet as a whole is mathematically altered in a precise way so a proven coherent wave launch can be achieved from the E-Line Array without physically altering the waves in the cabinets themselves.

This is achieved by using the Metro Math-Box unit which connects between the DSP crossovers / equalizer / limiter unit of the system and the power amplifiers. MATHBOX ™ controls the acoustic lobe of dispersion for the system, providing practically equalized frequency response up to the limits of speaker unit dispersion. For the E-Line Array concept, we use the powerful satellite loudspeaker METRO T-16. Criteria for this key component have been set –beyond high reliability- the reproduction of very high SPL levels for its bulk and price, and non-compromised sonic performance. We also use the original subwoofer named METRO T-15- utilizing a newly introduced and resourceful woofer load concept. T-15 not only exhibits excellent behaviour in terms of extended lows, low distortion, powerful dynamic range and frequency response flatness, but it extends the directivity control of the E-Line Array even to the deepest bass region, effectively creating an array system with controlled directivity from the lowest to the highest reproduced frequencies!

This concept leads to a major advantage. The cabinets can feature normal horns. Normal horns mean normal, cheaper, speakers that can be used anywhere, for any other hire job! Imagine the huge economical benefit of investing in an E-Line Array system. When the hire does not call for a line array application, the system does not wait in the track for the next big job. It can be used speaker by speaker in all conventional manners. In essence, the Metro E-Line Array is two systems in one.

System highlights

• The METRO E-Line Array covers areas of 40-50 meters length better than conventional line array systems with specialized HF guides, for even frequency response all over such areas.
• The E-Line Array is a truly flexible system. Its basic unit (T-16 speaker) can function in standalone applications, not being a member of an array, covering usual installation needs indoors or outdoors. T-16’s dispersion is not intrinsically restricted, it gets restricted only after the application of the MATHBOX ™ processor when the T-16 is used as a unit in METRO E-Line array system.
• The E-Line Array controls its directivity successfully, in effect to the T-16s limits of dispersion. On top of that it has directivity control over low frequencies although it is an array of small dimensions. The E-Line Array uses driver units of such sensitivity and power handling, which achieve coverage of distances and areas at least as much as established competitive systems in its bulk, and price class. (The MATHBOX ™ system lobe control unit, supports line array formations of 4, 6, and 8 satellites per channel, and -after special order - more.
• Metro Audio Systems developed and provides the E-AIM software, that calculates and graphically shows the installation and angles setup parameters for the E-Line Array, so to cater for all possible situations.
